If they decide to keep the Larry Curly and Mo show they are making a huge mistake. You just can’t be a bad coach at WCU, you have to be a really bad coach with external pressures to get you fired. It really serves no purpose on this board to complain about sports at WCU. It just causes people to hate you & nothing is going to change at WCU because of poor sports funding. It will take a major change or shakeup in the leadership at WCU to eliminate this Anti-sports attitude that permeates that campus. Maybe some day I’ll get to meet you Mr Roland & thank you for being a great Catamount Baseball Player. Have a nice summer to you & your family.

Jim I love baseball and all I want for the kids that come to this University is to be given the best chance to succeed. It should be one of the greatest experiences in their life if the program is ran like a quality Division 1 program. The kids coming here with the current leadership are going to be let down. That my friend is sad. Hopefully things will change? Jim, I hope you and your family have a great summer as well!

I'm sure Brock got fired -- don't think he did a whole lot. The pitching coach should have been kept on payroll. He did magic with the young pitchers -- when he was allowed to. I agree with this comment...

I agree with this comment... . Fire all the coaches and let God sort them out!! The head coach is responsible for the assistant coaches, the assistant coaches don't make the lineup and we had guys Batting in the 100's in starting lineup even at the DH position or playing somewhere all year? I can tell you who the heck i would fire!!! The Mo in charge...

Its disturbing to find out the truth. But, rarely, does the truth bring about change.
Truth 1: Coach Cocolin was a hell of a pitching coach. Look at the way those freshman pitched. He should have been promoted to head coach. Once the game started though, Cocolin had no say so. It was the Mo show. That's why pitchers stayed in well past time and no one was warming in the bull pen until it was too late.
Truth 2: Coach Dowd was irrelevant. If he was the hitting coach, he might want to exclude that from his resume. This was the worst display of WCU batting that I can remember in the last 10 years. Coach Dowd appeared to have little, if any, responsibility except to show up in the coaching box at 3rd and be Mo's "yes man" and inciter.
Truth 3: Mo is a good "glad hander" and works well with his administrative superiors.
Overriding Truth: This was not a team of coaches. This was a dictatorship. Dictatorships fail, which is the reason for the bad season. Mo offered little respect or deference to the assistants (or his players for that matter) and it showed. If Mo hires a bunch of "yes" men, the malady will continue.
Wonder why we had such a great season with Todd Guilliams? Because Mo respected him and gave him the offense and it showed. But Guilliams moved on to greener pastures. My guess is Guilliams left because of Mo.
We, as long-time Catamount fans and alumni, can only hope that Mo will defer to the expertise of incoming coaches. If not, it will be a repeat of 2017-18 and the Board will light up with words like, "catastrophe," "train wreck," and "dumpster fire," so much that by the end of the year, no one will care enough to even comment.

Of course this is just my opinion but the reason you are seeing assistants go rather than the head coach is because in general in every sport and (even in the business world) often you will see assistant coaches get the axe before it falls on the head coach.
I think the administration is giving Coach Mo the benefit of an awful season because he has been here for a while and has had some success winning the SoCon regular season in the past and conference tournament in 2016. So the assistant coach shake up is expected.
Furthermore, if there is budget concerns, than the majority of the money will go to improve football first. A healthy football program will benefit all sports financially, second priority is basketball as they are the 2 money making sports. I do not think they want to spend the extra money to look for a new baseball coach right now
Im not saying this is right but this is just the usual progression of things. I prefer baseball but it makes more financial sense to focus on football and basketball first to get football a SoCon title contender and regular playoff team and get basketball competitive and will likely come at the cost of baseball's success.

I totally agree with both points of view. The pecking order certainly applies most of the time. It is just a huge shame that the baseball players have to be the ones to suffer. It is quite clear from all directions that Coach Mo only has his own best interests at heart. If not, then he would be developing and promoting ALL of his players, not just a chosen few. The definition of coach, is to assist in the development of players and to teach teamwork. The only reason the Cats did so well in the So Con tourney was because Moranda didn’t have time to mess with trying to change anything. They just had to go out there and play and represent!

I also agree with both comments but I also think when you have a player struck in the head with out a helmet with a baseball hit from a bat during a game and he is bleeding from his ear and could not stand , an ambulance should have been called. Instead he was placed on the bus with a trainer. After about 30 minutes a concerned parent drove him to the hospital. Coach Mo was asked if an ambulance was needed and he stated no, we will just watch him. I do not believe you can see an internal brain injury by just watching him on the bus. It turned out the player was ok but this situation could have gone very bad very quick. The coach’s job is to be an advocate for his players. I feel if that was his child he would have stopped the game to take him to the hospital himself. The liability in the way this situation was handled could have cost the university a great deal of money and should be in itself the reason for a coaching change
