Western Carolina’s women’s soccer player Alexa Frankeny has been named the General Shale Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week for competition held Aug. 29 - Sept. 4.
After sitting out two years due to injury, the captain and redshirt senior defender was part of the Catamount defense that helped to lead them to a 1-0 overtime win over Campbell and a 0-0 tie with Navy. Frankeny and the defense have allowed just one goal over the last 460 minutes of play as well as five shots on goal and four shutouts.
