I was curious this morning to the overall performance of our athletic teams to this point this academic year.
In briefly looking up our placement in the conference standings across the various men's and women's sports, this has been a terrible athletics year top to bottom.
Women's soccer was OK this season, volleyball was under .500.
Football, and both basketball teams have been hard to watch. Near the bottom of the conference in all three (so far in the case of basketball).
So I ask myself "should all these coaches be on the hot seat"? Or "should our AD be the one on the hot seat"?
Accountability always comes from the top down. I don't think Randy is properly leading the individuals he is managing. Perhaps instead of alumni screaming for Speir to be fired, we need to go to the root source and hold the AD's feet to the fire to get better results

Considering this is Coach Prossers first year, I don't know how or why you would want to put him on the Hot Seat. The team is much more watchable than it was the last 4 years. I think we've got a good one and basketball will get back to the top of the SoCon. I think 2019 is a do or die year in football, we need to win and make the playoffs.

From watching the basketball team play a handful of times this season I think Prosser is getting everything he can possibly get out of this team (which isn't much). They were out matched and under sized in both the Jacksonville and Samford games and found a way to win. The team plays hard, especially on the defensive end of the floor. They have no real superstar or source of quick offense so they have to buy into the system and run the offense in order to generate points. They have the signs of a well coached and disciplined team.

The best overall picture of athletics is the cup standings. Through fall sports, the men are in 9th place and the women are in 6th place.

It's just my opinion, but the two WCU coaches that should not only be on the hot seat, but something should have already been done are the head football coach and the head women's basketball coach. They should both be on notice that this is their last season, and it makes no difference the outcome of this season for basketball or next year for the head coach.

In the unlikely event we win the SoCon in football or finish second and make the Playoffs, you're saying Mark should be fired? The men in 9th is a concern for me, I could care less where the women finish.

Perhaps I should clarify my statements when I started this thread.......
I am suggesting the AD should be the one on the hot seat. With results across the board being sub-par, I am saying perhaps we need a different AD

I'd like to see how he handles these two positions.

I just want to understand your point of view. I would say that if we see improvement next year that Speir should be given an extension but I think you are saying that even if we win the conference, Coach Speir should be shown the door. Is that correct?

Is that correct? Maybe this will be clear enough for you. He should have been shown the door at the end of this season. Since that did not happen for whatever reason, and unless he wins 10 games and brings in a SoCon championship or at least a playoff bid, his contract would just expire at the end of next season. With 7 seasons to prove himself, and only 3 winning seasons out of 7 - he's done about as much as he can in Cullowhee. I think he as about as much chance at 9 or 10 wins or a SoCon championship as he did this past season. Had they made the move this year, we'd be one more year closer to something with a new head coach this season. I hope that is clear enough for you.
