No pitching from the throwers on the Staff. Does not look good for the Conference Schedule with this lack of depth on the staff. Looks like Walters & Franklin are the only pitchers that can give the Cats a chance to win in a three game series in the SoCon. The bats have proven they can hit good pitching but in baseball you have to have good pitching to be successful. Unfortunately, pitching is lacking at WCU.

We aren’t going to win this series; I’m afraid our main objective now is to avoid being no-hit.

Disappointing to lose this series - but Elon is a tough squad. Saturday was a heartbreaker to battle back and still take the loss. Hope to have another strong weekend series AT ETSU. GWU will not be easy either.

GWU will not be easy either. 75, Coach left the starting pitcher in way to long. Purus was hit pretty hard & gave up way to many runs. Walters did a decent job. Still do not understand why the base runner went in so hard at 2nd & got an interference call resulting in a double play. This past weekend’s results exposed the Cat’s weakness of having no depth in the pitching staff. Before the season started, I listed this as one of my major concerns about this year’s team. The other concern I have is the Conference Away Games Schedule not being favorable for the Cats. This weekend will tell us a lot about how the Cats will handle away Conference Games this season.

My thoughts on that play at second base is this. There should not had been no play like that at second. We got a lead off runner on base in the bottom of the 10th inning down by 1. I always say you bunt them over and drive them in (as do so many others MLB included). Had they done that the shortstop got a base hit and it would’ve tied the game with another good runner on first base with a chance to walk it off on them. But no we let them hit into a double play (that should’ve been result had first baseman not had dropped the throw that hit him in the glove. That is my take but what do I know. This has been an issue for some time. We do not put pressure on teams in this manner

Can’t afford to make that kind of error in Conference Games with the Pitching Staff that WCU has to deal with this season. Thank you for your comments. Don’t be a guest on this Board. I think the pitching staff may have more depth than it's currently showing. It might just be a matter of figuring out the roles and moving the pieces into the right places. As an observation from the games thus far, it looks to me like some of the key pieces are out of place. Some starters seem to get hit hard the second and third times through the order, which might make them better suited for middle or short relief. I've noticed that since the UNC-Asheville game (with the exception of one pitcher), the starter has averaged about 2 innings. In several games, a reliever has turned in more innings than the starter.
