The Citadel When: Thursday - Saturday, May 16-18, game times at 5 pm, 5 pm, & 2 pm Where: Childress Field / Hennon Stadium, Cullowhee, NC Radio: none TV / Video: none Live Stats: Live StatsCitadel's Record: 10-41 overall, 3-18 conference, 0-23 away, Mascot: Bulldogs Series: The Cats are 88-65 all-time against the Bulldogs in a series that started back in 1971. The Cats were 2-2 in 2018 against the Bulldogs. The Citadel is coming to Cullowhee on a 21 game losing streak. Let's not let them end their season on a high note, a three-game sweep against the Bulldogs will keep WCU out of the play-in game in the tournament. No radio or video of the weekend series is scheduled at this time for the two last-place teams in the SoCon.
They changed their mind (at least for Thursday), video now on SoCon Digital Network and on radio, Catamount Sports Network

As the post above implies, we MUST SWEEP the CitDogs to avoid the Play-in game between the #8 and #9 seeds.
VMI has played 24 conference games and their SoCon season is over. They are 9-15 in conference.
We are currently #8 seed with CitDogs having #9 seed locked up. We have played 21 games with 3 remaining. We are 7-14. If we win 2 of 3 this weekend, we will be 9-15 but VMI has the tie-breaker over us because they won the weekend with us. We must sweep to move past VMI and force them down to #8 seed.
This is not the position Catamount Baseball has historically been in... "Playing-in" to get into the Tournament. But this is our second year in a row.

My, My,,,,how times have changed in SoCon Baseball. Today, we have the two best programs in SoCon Baseball history at the bottom of the standings...the two programs that have won three times more regular season championships (13 each) than any other current member of the conference. Oh for the days in old College Park and later in The Joe when The Catamounts and Bulldogs met in a bunch of classic SoCon Tournament games.

It's highly likely that this team will lose today to a team on a 22 game losing streak.
Lose to a team that has not won a game this season away from Charleston, they are 0-24 in away games and 0-1 in neutral site games.
Yet, they come to Cullowhee and win. Now, the Cats will play the Bulldogs in the play-in game, and get to come back to Cullowhee in a one and done deal.
The Cats had everything to play for today, and the Bulldogs had noting to play for except pride, and could not improve their position. Yet, they got up for the game, and the Cats laid down and played dead. This team has basically quit playing for Moranda.
You'd think they play for self pride, themselves, and the university, but it's much easier to just give up.

Not much to say after that loss to a team on a 22 game losing streak. Didn't we have to play the "play-in" last season too?
