I told this board, time after time last season that WCU needed a new head coach. But still his defenders came to the forfront, even with a 3-8 season. Well folks, we will be lucky to get up to a 3-8 season this year. Until the fans rebel, NOTHING will happen in Cullowhee about athletics and the good old boys, Randy and Mark. 72, do you remember all the posts I put on this Board stating that Coach Speir was not Qualified to be a Head Coach at this level because he had never been a Coordinator at any School. My posts were made several years ago. Do you remember how you & I got blasted for our remarks. However, for the sake of the University & the Alumni, I hoped I was wrong. Yes I remember most of your posts for the last several years. We both knew the reality of the situation for several years, but most fans just want to bury their heads in the sand, and not face reality. I've been blasted so much, I expect it now, but until we have a new AD and new HC, I'll continue to put up my 2 cents worth. Hopefully, I'll live long enough to see something happen, other than losses.

If there is a saving grace anywhere in all this mess, I think Tyrie will be back next game. How much Speir will play him remains to be seen, as Speir seems to be sold on Will. Problem is, will just barely won against a DII team. I don't see him putting up a win against any of the future opponents on our schedule. What makes you think Tyrie will put up wins in the SoCon? He was the QB last year & WCU lost 8 consecutive games. If Tyrie is the great QB, measure him by the team wins & Conference Championships. I think that is how Tom Brady is measured & he is suppose to be the Greatest QB in NFL History. I don’t give a tinkers damn about his stats or the records he has set at WCU. The bottom line is simple, has the Football Program been successful under his leadership as the QB?

I agree with you Jim but judging by the game yesterday he gives a better chance to win than Will does.

Maybe it’s not a Jones or Adams dilemma. Co-play callers, young players in key spots on the team and an offensive scheme that needs to be tweaked at the minimum.

I think Adams gives us a better chance to win, but it is more important the players have the correct calls, be put in the right positions to succeed. Does our special teams coach have a clue?? I mean seriously....another punt return for TD?? Are players not staying in their lanes, or have they not been taught correctly? They are all out of position in coverage. Everyone is over running their approach to the ball

Someone said a couple of weeks ago about bringing in a consultant, seems like a good idea. Maybe Johnson for football but also contract Wellman, who just retired from WFU, to come in and evaluate the athletics department.

But the defense has improved surprisingly... You can't be serious? Well we held NC State to 3 points in the 1st and a total of 24 by the end of the half. North Greenville (I know....) was held to 10 points scored by their offense (as it should be). I'm wondering if their QB was just bad or our defense actually did things to disrupt the passing game. Hopefully we will see an improvement when facing actual division opponents. I'm wondering what has really happened to our offense, the loss of Brad Glenn seems to be huge for this team. Of course after last night's game it shows that we have division 2 talent on our football team, not FCS talent.

With the VMI win over one of last season's tri-champions, ETSU, I'd say that Western Carolina firmly has last place in the conference tied down.
