24/7 has already started to post on Twitter what FBS programs would want Reid to transfer to their school.

That means nothing. It is just a person who knows nothing of the situation expressing his opinion as if it was a fact. Desmond is not going anywhere.

We should expect to hear this kind of thing. Desmond has not transferred, still has a redshirt year, and is proving that big schools made a mistake in not taking a chance on him (most I am sure were worried about his size). I would expect him to stay next year but then who knows after that. FCS schools on one hand are benefiting from more high school talent not getting the big school offers and signing with us, but obviously losing out on the other end when guys prove themselves and get offers as JRs and SRs. I think Coach Bell is doing all he can to build depth and competition at as many positions as he can and we’ll no doubt lose really good players at some point. Schools like us will have to take on a next man up mentality (with kids like Adams and Townsend stepping in).
But if Desmond Reid is on this forum, I’d say stick around and see how good this thing can get. You can get drafted from WCU as the featured back with 200+ carries a year, or you can hope to be a starter at an FBS school where you have to start over and maybe you’ll get 10 carries a game. Reid is that good, so let’s all appreciate him for however long we have him.

I agree 100 percent. It’s an idiotic article saying basically that he will leave which is pure speculation. I bet the writer has never spoken to the kid or knows anything about Western Carolina. I saw this article on 247 and did not post it because I did not consider this worthy of discussion. Pure conjecture and speculation. Why would anyone want to leave WCU? Please do not answer that and prolong this idiotic thread because it is rhetorical. I guess we have been bad for so long that we née to make up stuff to worry about when things are going well. I hope we beat Chatt because if we don’t, folks will come out of the woodwork with how bad things are. In my opinion, folks should not be helping 247 cast shade on Western by posting this crap.

He is a great running back who has the luxury of running behind a GREAT offensive line…. There is no doubt he knows this and most assuredly knows how the potential transfer to a school with a “not so great” offensive line might effect his statistics which, in turn, might effect any opportunities at the pro level. Plenty of kids go from FCS to the NFL…Why not stay put and be “the best” at his level rather than risk so much!? He’s already getting national attention.
If the coaches leave I would bet my shirt half the team leaves with them.
You never know this is all speculation and just my opinion - which doesn’t matter much…Just ask my wife. 😂🤣

I thought his message board was to talk about things surrounding WCU good or bad and even might not ever happen

I thought his message board was to talk about things surrounding WCU good or bad and even might not ever happen I think you are correct. That article in my opinion was very negative and condescending to WCU. You can of course post what ever you want, but that was not journalism. Those guys were casting shade on schools like Western and acting like it is a foregone conclusion that he will transfer. That kind of stuff can also hurt our recruiting and in my opinion, why post anything that tries to put Western in a bad light. These guys don’t know Western or Desmond and in my opinion are way out of line with articles like this about topics they know absolutely nothing about. Post whatever you like that The Cats allows but don’t expect me to not chime in and say that I think it is negative and in my opinion casts Western in a negative light.
