Suggestion:
If you have season tix and know you can't make a home game, contact the Catamount Club and let them have your seats. They don't pay you for them, but they use them for recruits, their families and for luring new CC members. I'm doing that this weekend. Same thing if you have a parking pass with your ticket. Butts in seats AND potentially new student athletes is the way I look at it.

The first few years we donated every game back so they could be used to promote and recruit. I don’t even know where our seats were except somewhere West side near the 50.

I'd think most, if not all, remaining seats would be taken by "walk-up" fans on Saturday. It looks like it will be a big day in Whitmire on Saturday. If the Cats continue this trend the remainder of the season, the only other fan base that will even come close would be Mercer.

Just think what the Attendance would be if the Cats won a Southern Conference Championship. Some of us have been waiting for this for over 50 years.

Chattanooga had attendance of 9,020 in their one home game to-date. It will be interesting to see how much that number improves in their 20k stadium. If last season's figures how true, the number will not change a lot.

Last count was 2,122 seats left in all sections that can be purchased ahead. So, if students show up in force, I'd guess a crowd of 11,500.

I have season tix and I know of ONE game I won't be able to make it to and I'll do my best to donate the seats and my parking. I've said this before and I'll say it again, it just goes to show the rest of the conference that WCU has the most diehard and loyal fan base seeing that we've been through so many years of losing season after losing season and still garner the crowds and support that we do. Yes, if we continue to build on our success, something great can happen. I just truly hope the community, Board of Directors, Admin and alums can kick it into the next gear and really do more to improve our stadium, press box, and other associated facilities. At some point you'd think folks that call all the shots would see the light and recognize the potential a really superb football program could do for Western NC. Eaton and Speir have checked off all the boxes thus far in the goal of turning a down in the dumps program around. Eaton hired the right coach (Speir), Eaton and the Cat Club admin boosted donations, Eaton got us out of the financial debacle associated with Wagner, Speir turned a losing program into winning whilst recruiting "right fit" type of student/athletes, and thus, fans have started coming back in better numbers.

I do think it may take a mini-revolt of CC members to threaten not to re-up unless they commit to facility improvements. Yes - to be competitive we need to offer a full set of scholarships. But the athletic budget has more than doubled in the last 10 years and CC members have stepped up. The time for whining and excuses is over. Now is the time to start to see the changes.

I see one of two things that will happen. WCU football will reach either a tipping point or a point where the inertia fades. The tipping point theory is where WCU football continues to improve and excitement and support bubbles up so much that truly impactful and profound changes take place like: Indoor practice facility, new press box, east and/or west side stadium improvements, new fieldhouse complex. As a result, WCU gains some appearances in the playoffs, wins a SOCON championship, then becomes a consistent top contender in the SOCON year in and year out. The "fading inertia" theory is similar to the law of diminishing returns. Over time, the return on the meager investment into the football program will diminish from where we are now, the "getting the most and best bang for our limited buck" situation, to a scenario that plays out where WCU football success hits a ceiling due to the budgetary constraints. Then, shortly thereafter, the program becomes mediocre, fan and support interest wain (not diminish completely due to our innate level of loyalty) and WCU football simply relegates itself to a "middle of the pack" SOCON team and an overall lower to mid tier FCS program.
In summary, we are not simply cresting the hill on this road and seeing the crossroads ahead, WE ARE at the crossroads right now.
