Let's go with weather.com, please. But either would be a whole lot better than the game in Cullowhee last year.

Looks like Vegas thinks it is a crapshoot between WCU/FU, and Citadel/Towson.

The attempt in a line is to get equal bets on each team. When the betting line changes, that means the bets are to one side, so they adjust the lines, in an attempt to move those betting to the other team. In reality, they mean little to who's going to win, but it IS now a crapshoot for those betting on these two games.....

Totally know how the lines work - but I will say it is often uncanny how close they typically end up. If I go to something like Massey, our ratings are identical (.94 rating for each team). They have Furman at #53 and WCU at #54 (alphabetical???) - meaning Massey and the computers/rankings all think this is basically an even game. I also don't know how much "action" typically gets laid on a SoCon game. Last week on Saturday the Mercer game switched from them being favored to Citadel being a 7 point favorite. Citadel won by 7.
And that Massey rating should put things in perspective for us. We are 3-0, but that doesn't mean much to the outside world now. Wins the next 2 weeks would be needed to even be in serious consideration for being ranked.

Let's go with weather.com, please. But either would be a whole lot better than the game in Cullowhee last year. The weather was one factor last year but the biggest factor in the loss is the 42 faked injuries that the Furman defense had to slow down our offense so they could substitute. There will be more of that this year so I hope we have worked with our offense to make them not so dependent on rhythm. We have to figure out a way to make sure that does not disrupt our flow. We all know it is cheating and low down but we have to be ready for it.

FLACAT Tyrie going down in the first had a big impact on the offense .

If I had to choose only one fanbase to get a W over every year it would be the one from the private school in Greenville. Cannot stand the wine and cheese crowd down there. Hope to see some attitude like the 2005 defense that took out the then #2 team in the country Saturday. Our defense has shown flashes, just need to put it together consistently.

Last year felt like we got whipped (and we did up-front I thought). But looking back at the stats and the series-by-series results, WCU drove right down the field on the first series but did not convert a 4th and 2 at the 12 yard line. We also had another good series on the first drive after Tyrie went out that resulted in a missed FG. That game could have easily been 7-6 or even Western leading 10-7 at the half. Tyrie going out and then a couple of big plays by Furman in the 3rd quarter and the guys seemed to let that totally deflate them.
That being said, Coach Speir did a good job in his video this week pointing out that last year and the first 3 games this year don't mean anything for this game for either team. We are undefeated and they are winless. They beat us bad, and we talk about the weather and Tyrie going out. That stuff has no bearing this Saturday - it is all about how prepared each team is and who executes.

On tv they just referred to Western as one of Furman’s rivals. Also where are all the fans? The stands look very bare.
