Furman had 288 total yards against ETSU last week. So not sure I would call them the "higher" competition.

I think part of that is the play calling. We looked great to start with, going fast, short passes, TE dump pass, etc. When we are out of rhythm with slow-developing pass plays or try to just hand the ball right up the middle we do poorly. But again - we had 273 yards of offense. Certainly we needed to score at the end, but no way would I point the finger at our offense. I said this last week. Run the ball with purpose outside the tackles to 1) gain some yards and 2) maybe keep our D off the field. Now we are in a pass-first situation, so that can lead to even faster 3-and-outs, Furman just pinning their ears back and getting a pass rush and penetration, etc. I fully expect it to be 38-10 after this first drive, so the offense is going to need to be phenomenal to keep this from getting out of hand. How does an uptempo offense help our defense? WCU has to load the line with two tight ends & put two running backs behind Adams. Need to get man to man cover on the wide receivers. You have to slow the offense down, control the clock, and shorting the game with the sorry defense this Coaching Staff has recruited. Running the ball wins championships & passing the ball sells tickets.

I think you missed what I was saying. We looked good with play calling to start. Quick passes that are easy throws, and running the ball outside the tackles to gain yardage is what I want us to do. I agree - we need to not have 3-and-outs, but we can't totally change the offense. We just need to run plays that help us stay in control. No slow-developing pass plays, and only 1 or so deep passes unless we have lulled them to sleep.

2 turnovers in the red zone. Ouch No kidding - 2 score game right now even with how bad our D has played. We need to help them on O. Remember FU wet the bed last week.

I was going to take back what I said about the OL, but looking bad again at the end of the 3rd. Just no excuse for this most experience part of our team.

Still little to no discipline shown by this team. Can we even fix the little mistakes ?

Is the D inspired, or is Furman just playing like crap on offense? Like I said, the Paladins did this same thing last week.

Gah, the game is so close and we can't rely on our defense to keep it close. I have never seen a team miss so many tackles...
