If he wasn’t from the App State Gang he would be gone ! Landry got fired after UTC but don’t look for anything to happen like that ! Everyone sets school records on WCU this year! Can’t wait to see what Wofford a team with a first year head coach does to WCU Most coaches at this level have a hard time firing their coordinators, it isn't only just because he is from App. You can see this at the professional level where the panthers took nearly 2 years to fire their struggling OC I thought Landry was only at WCU as DC for one season ! Maybe Speir and Wiley will get the defense better! I’m just Looking at the records being set !

Everyone sets school records on WCU this year! Can’t wait to see what Wofford a team with a first year head coach does to WCU When a team plays WCU, they not only set records, they get well. If the have a problem with offense, play WCU, if they have a problem with their defense, play WCU, get well. None of us wanted to admit it, but the Newberry game should have let all of us know, WCU football is in deep trouble this season. I think that trouble is entirely on the shoulders of the coaching staff. I hate it for the kids playing their hears out. If you heard Speir's postgame radio interview - he repeated what he said last week, nothing new, "We can fix that". Problem is, they never fix it, they don't know how, and the discipline is not there to win.

Speir doesn’t have a winning record, he hasn’t won anything? He is a great guy. Unfortunately in life those guys don’t always make great football coaches. I’m grateful my son has gotten his education paid for by Western. Overall his experience here has been great off the field, great folks in Cullowhee. This football team isn’t up to par and anyone that says otherwise is dilusional. Look at Mercer running up the score on us. There are players here folks and this staff isn’t improving them. I’ll be at the rest of this seasons games, but ain’t posting anymore. I respect Coach Holt and Speir too much to trash them any further. My son was taught not to settle for mediocracy, it’s the Cats way imho. I’m very sorry for you & your son. I was wanting this team to be very good for your son’s sake. However, I have not had a lot of confidence in Coach Speir & his Staff for the last 3 years. He is a great Christian Man but he is not a great HC. He should have never been hired because of his lack of experience as a HC and Coordinator. I have posted my concerns on this matter for the last 3 or 4 years. He needs to make some coaching changes after the season is over but I do not think he has the backbone to do so. I do not like the three down lineman on defense. Mercer made changes & started running the ball up the middle & Wiley did not make the adjustments to stop their running game. Western’s Offense was great & put more than enough points on the board to win the game. I feel sorry for the players on defense because they are being let to twist in the wind because of poor coaching. Special Teams play is nothing to write home about. I sure would love for you to keep posting because you always give us great insight on the players & their parents.

HAHA. are you serious right now?? Most teams who score 46 points win but not Western. we gave up 59 points. That is terrible. What improvements have you seen on the D side??? We are not more competitive. We are the same crappy team the season started with. Grow? I mean we can only go up from here. We you hit rock bottom you can only go up. Mark needs to fire the S.T. coach and do something with the DC. Both areas have sucked all year. Winner? Your winner has a losing record at Western and will have a losing record this year. Wiley needs to be fired after this game. No excuses! I would say that we all agree that we saw allot of improvement today on both sides of the ball. The team is becoming more competitive and improving. I am excited to see this team grow up this year. It is an exciting time to be a Catamount. Coach Speir is the right man for the job and is a winner. Anything bad you see on the football field is a result of 30 years of poor leadership by the administration and the loser BOT that we have. I wish we could swap our BOT with Apps BOT.

This is 1000% correct and it is coming from a players dad. How do you argue with this. I bet we have a few good players leave after this season Speir doesn’t have a winning record, he hasn’t won anything? He is a great guy. Unfortunately in life those guys don’t always make great football coaches. I’m grateful my son has gotten his education paid for by Western. I guess then, YOU think the older fans should just keep quiet and go away? deleted post deleted Jerry, I don’t know what Burke said in his post but if it has been bad enough for you to delete it, he might need to be shown the exit. I think it was last year you had to kick him off the “Members Only Board” for making inappropriate remarks. I have nothing against the guy because I pay very little attention to him most of the time. I know that he was in the Band at WCU when he was an undergraduate. Up until today, I have not heard him say anything that I would consider as derogatory toward other poster.

Excited to be a Catamount, if VMI wins a game for the first time in nearly three seasons WCU will be tied for last place with them! Wofford has a first yr HC and is in first place in Conference and they are tied with ETSU a program that has had football back for four years after dropping football for years! That brings me to Mercer that just beat the brakes off Speirs WCU team , Mercer started football back August 2013 after not having it for 72 year !! Doesn’t seam all that exciting of a time at WCU now! But I know I get it that when we win it’s the Coaches and Speir but when we lose it’s the BOT

Winners today - no real surprises. Well actually, the WCU offense playing well in the 1st quarter was a surprise. I thought Furman would win but it's not a real surprise Samford pulled it out.
Citadel - 34 VMI - 32
ETSU - 17 Wofford - 30
Samford - 38 Furman - 25
WCU - 46 Mercer - 59
