95 3rd and 1 play was an outside run, no RPO.It was blocked that way. Cory goes off tackle he gets the first down. Watch that play and confirm what my son told me. Again 18-22 yr old’s make mistakes. Our offense is designed for the QB to run, designed for Tyrie. He is special. Can’t blame OC for focusing on our strengths, but I hate his play calling ego. This is going to sound like a shot, it’s not, Ferguson is 4th in depth chart of a very talented group of RB’s, no shame in himnot getting many opportunities. We should’ve won Saturday. All phases had a hand in not winning, but the record falls on the coaches. I’ve never seen my son and that Oline group, whom I love all of, look more dejected after a game. That group to a man shoulders the blame when they lose. I saw good things from our D, future looks bright. Our offense is lethal when we don’t turn the ball over, their future with Tyree at the helm will continue to be a force. Sadly my son will graduate without seeing a post season game. I’m blessed and grateful to WCU for the education my son has received. Love the great fans and other parents I’ve met in his time their. Skip your a great fan of all our players and coaches, I love seeing your posts. For that reason I won’t be talking anymore about coaches, all of whom love my son.I’m just a disappointed players parent. Let’s win the next 2 and get this bad taste out of our mouth. Would love to put up a fight vs UNC. My son has had tons of help in his time in Cullowhee, from coaches, other parents, and Falculty. The Miles family thanks all involved. Smack - I know you probably don't remember this but I sat with you at an August 2016 Saturday morning practice... Enjoyed talking with you at that time! I had come up to watch practice and see Ethan James - he went through the middle school I teach at... See you Saturday if I can get rid of this pneumonia! Skip

I do remember it Skip, at the time I didn’t have name to face. Ethans parents were at Mercer game, I sat behind them. Just came to support the Cats. Western has the best fan support hands down in the SoCon.

This is a big if but even if the D does come around and we happened to beat Cid and Wofford there is no way we are beating UNC. UNC is bad i know but our D was better last year when we played them and we got crushed 95 3rd and 1 play was an outside run, no RPO.It was blocked that way. Cory goes off tackle he gets the first down. Watch that play and confirm what my son told me. Again 18-22 yr old’s make mistakes. Our offense is designed for the QB to run, designed for Tyrie. You should be very pleased no matter the outcome of the season and I'm sure you are. We appreciate the sacrifices your son has made as well. Yes, he's getting an education, but he's had to work very hard for it and overcome so much both on and off the field. Same could be said for all of these players. Say what you will about Speir and staff, but they recruit great men and love them and care about their well-being. I hope the guys can bond together and play a great game this weekend and shoot for win 4, then 5, and possibly 6. Seriously, if the defense keeps improving and offense stays the course WCU CAN win out. I really believe that. Yes, that's a lot of "ifs", but nonetheless true. One thing I'm sure you can say, is that WCU fans are the finest in the SOCON in spite of how well our team does. I'm sure you've visited other stadiums around the SOCON seen how POORLY their fans support their teams. WCU is special, in a special place on God's creation, and I personally had some very special professors that cared about me and my success. Without them and WCU, I would have never been as prepared as I was to interview for, and obtain a 20 year career at a highly successful Fortune 500 company. Not bragging about success, just giving all the glory to God and the educators that taught me how to be a professional and learn the skills that I needed to succeed and thrive. I could have gone to ASU, UNCC, ECU, NC State and a few other much larger schools, but I likely would have floundered at those places being "just a number". So thankful I chose WCU and so thankful your son did the same.

Also, for next year, Adams, Young, Spencer (and even Furgeson), and all of the WRs and TEs are back except Mathis. On offense our losses are up-front, but as Smack chimed-in several of those guys have seen some playing time. I actually think Young can be a very valuable guy for us, and he has shown crazy-good receiving capabilities out of the backfield (his time at WR helped). I'm sorry to be negative, but IMO, same players, same coaches, equals same results. The team is undisciplined - coaches fault The team is uninspired - coaches fault The team is inconsistent - who knows who's fault that is Again, my opinion, but for the last 7 years the emphasis has been the offense, and we all love high scores by our team. BUT as we have seen, it's DEFENSE that wins games. Seems the coaching staff forgot that. 72, maybe you can answer this for me. Why would you use wide splits in your defensive line when the opposing offense is inside your 5 yard line? Seems Western gives up great angle blocking for the offensive team. I always thought you load up the defensive line to better match up with the offensive line.
