Goonies PO'd about their bowl game and conference affiliation. Now declaring they need to find another conference.
This just in- Drinkwitz leaving for Missouri. Goonies aghast, App is a better job than the SEC, even if their current conference sucks.
They are losing their minds!

I just saw a quote on Twitter that said if more people don't start to give back to App then they won't have the money to keep good coaches. I know a coach they can pay for cheap and keep. Also they said the Sunbelt does not deserve them. That they are too good for the Sunbelt. Said they should be in the AAC with ECU

Also I forgot to mention the fanbase is up in arms because they are saying they deserved to go to the Belk bowl or the cotton bowl. That the team they have to play is the 2 ranked team in conference USA and they should be playing another G5 champion not a 2nd play team. Lol they are something else

Appalachian can have ECU's spot in the AAC when ECU gets that elusive invite to the SEC. By the way, when ECU gets in the SEC, I will sell you some ocean front property in Arizona too. (I am a Pirate as much as a Catamount, but ECU isn't going anywhere and neither is APP). |

According to multiple reports tonight, after fielding interest from a number of schools, Appalachian State head coach Eli Drinkwitz has reached an agreement to be the new head coach at Missouri.
No official word from the school yet, but Chris Low of ESPN was among the first to share the news.

UAB somehow won the East division of C-USA in a season I think they only beat a couple of teams with winning records. My daughter goes to FAU and we went to the C-USA championship on Saturday to watch her school destroy the Blazers 49-6. In my opinion, App State is getting royally screwed (at least in who they are playing). FAU is going against SMU, Marshall is playing UCF, and La Tech has lucked out and will probably get to beat an ACC school when they play Miami. I don’t know what bowl game App should have played in, but as a ranked team I would say they deserved a helluva lot better than what they got - they can beat UAB by as many as they feel like.
And haven’t seen it mentioned, but it wouldn’t surprise me if App looks at somebody like Dwayne Ledford. He is from Marion, played at ECU (and in the NFL), coached for several years in Boone, and is currently the O-line coach and OC in Louisville. He probably makes as much as the App coach now, though.

Lol they are something else We all agree that the App State fan base is a bit delusional, but they are much more successful in football that Western Carolina and they continue to build facilities and win games as we wallow in obscurity and struggle to beat D2 teams. Facts are, we have no reason to make fun of them when we are more delusional than they are at times. Also, they do deserve a better bowl game than they got and the job in Boone is not an ACC or SEC caliber job but that job is much better than the Western Carolina job by far. So in my opinion, we have nothing to crow about. At least someone wants their coach. Maybe Coach Speir will get another courtesy interview like he got last time and Randy will add 5 more years to his contract extension. With our AD, BOT and Leadership at the top, I would not put it past us. But... we have a great band. Never forget that. Isn't that why we play football, so that we can have a band concert 5 or 6 times in the fall each year? |

But FLA you need to remember their original gripe was they should have been in Conference USA instead of UNCC (sorry, I'm not calling them "Charlotte"). They also wanted this move to "big boy football" because they had outgrown the puny SoCon and those national championship games. Now they get to experience the politics and vagaries of the bowl system. I agree they got hosed but they can't get through their thick skulls that they are relative newcomers to FBS and just because ESPN+ likes to throw them on air on a Wed or Thurs night only means they are the comparable to the 90's WAC.
Meanwhile North Dakota State just keeps rolling along, breaking their own consecutive win streak record on their way to another real championship.
I know we suck but sometimes its fun to take a break from our misery and watch someone else's. I like App but sometimes their fanbase forgets or is oblivious to their "raisin' ".

I just saw on the App Football Facebook page that several fans are certain the ACC (not the AAC) will certainly be calling them to join. They need to put the crack pipe down, the AAC doesn't have interest in the goons, much less the ACC!!  They think that winning in football is all that matters. They bring absolutely nothing to the table TV ratings wise. ECU was lucky to get in the AAC, the only other NC school that they would even consider is UNCC for the Charlotte market. Congrats to the goons, they have an excellent program, but I just don't see them getting any other conference bid short of CUSA. |
