I’ve listened to a few of you bash this team and calling for Moranda’s head on this forum for the last month or so now and I just couldn’t stay quiet any longer. Nor should you stay quite, he certinally needs some defenders, because his work as a coach is not a lot of defense.

At least you transitioned from Briggs to Leggett…. And I’m sure if Coach K had stayed at Army then he’d be the winningest coach in Army basketball history right now. You’d be hard pressed to find a mid major coach in any sport that doesn’t dream of coaching at a larger program for more money, better exposure, nicer facilities, etc. Look, all I’m saying is calling Moranda “not Jack Leggett” is one thing. Calling for his firing and comparing this to a dumpster fire is an unjustified jump to the other extreme in my opinion.

Winning percentages at Western
Jack Leggett 57.2%
Keith LeClair. 64.3%
Todd Raleigh. 55.2%
Bobby Moranda. 51.4%
Considering that it is harder to win in today’s college baseball and that teams like Mercer, Wofford and Samford really emphasis baseball now, Moranda overall winning percentage is comparable to his 3 successors. So to be fair, the program is certainly not a dumpster fire by any stretch of the imagination.

Rodney Hennon's record at WCU was 78 wins and 37 losses for a winning percentage of 67.8%
Lamar Hennon, Rodney's dad told me of an interesting discussion that he(Lamar) had with our chancellor at the time, Dr. Bardo that was very interesting.

Winning percentages at Western Bobby Moranda. 51.4% It's good you took his entire cureer at WCU for the percentage, because for the last 8 seasons (including this year) or since 2014, his winning percentage is 42.9% Sorry, but I don't see any improvements in the future.

Rodney Hennon's record at WCU was 78 wins and 37 losses for a winning percentage of 67.8% Hennon had a couple good seasons as the WCU skipper, too bad he didn't stay longer - he'll never be thought of as one of the a "great" WCU baseball coaches for that reason. He'll have to go to GSU for that honor.

Lamar Hennon just loved college baseball, and, I think Dr. Bardo believed he would try to takeover our baseball program, and Dr. Bardo wanted to let Lamar know that he(Dr. Bardo) was in charge.
Dr. Bardo summoned Lamar to meet in his office in Cullowhee at 7am, and told him not to be late.
Lamar did not like being talked down to, as Lamar said that he felt like Dr. Bardo had talked to him.
Lamar had written a check to go to our athletics for 50,000 dollars for baseball, and after his phone call from Dr. Bardo, Lamar decided to not give the AD the check, which we could have used.
RIP Dr. Bardo, Ms. Bardo, and Lamar Hennon. The three of you did some very good things for the University.
GO CATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why wouldn’t I take his entire career? That is his record. You took the last 8 years. What sense does that make? You don’t like that he has a winning record because it does not fit your narrative so you take the last 8 years. I guess you can try to spin it anyway you want to but the man has a winning record at Western and he has won more games than any coach in Western baseball history. Those 2 things are facts no matter how you try to spin it.

Those 2 things are facts no matter how you try to spin it. You can put all the "spin" on Moranda's record you can. The real fact about coaching is "what did you do last season?" For the last 8 seasons Moranda has gone backwards. Few winning seasons, no conference regular season championships, and no tournament championships. I call that going backwards and that's not spin. Moranda's best days as a head coach are in the past, not the future, that's not spin, his record proves it out.
