My last post Probably a great guy and good coach. But not a Western guy. It will be a Western guy promise you that. I believe you are right and hope so or at least someone who either played for or coached with LeClair here or the other place that honors him. There are so many I hope we talk to see if Raleigh would come back, I don't even know what he is doing now but he is still young enough, I believe he has a desire to coach again. I don't think Sinicki would leave Binghamton but I would try. Then there is an assistant coach at Michigan and also an assistant at UCLA with LeClair ties that should be given a head coach opportunity. The reason, I say LeClair ties is because everyone that has played for or coached with him have basically been successful and have this certain level of commitment it takes to win.

What former Western guys can we afford? I can name two who have great coaching credentials and have never been D-1 head coaches before. Currently Asst. coaches at good programs. I'm sure we can afford them. Someone in authority needs to find out. ALAN BECK and CHRIS MOORE I think either one of them would do well back in Cullowhee.

Alan and his wife, former cheer leading head coach Kim Cherry Beck are both WCU graduates.
Alan would be awesome as would having both the Becks back in Cullowhee
GO CATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I trust that the administration is looking for a winning coach that we can afford, who WANTS to be in Cullowhee. Especially since Alex is baseball oriented. Although I'd like a coach with ties to the program, I don't think it's necessary. (Referencing football in particular.) If he can bring back championships and be inclusive with alums, bring it on! Go Cats!

Now, now Catamount fans who are throwing insults back and forth to each other... get your panties out of a wad... Quit arguing about BMo and who thought what about him. We are going to have a new head coach announced pretty soon... I have it from a good source that things are moving quickly. Nice, I am not asking any names but can you advise (or tease lol) if the names being considered have either 1: WCU connections, 2: A Keith LeClair connection in some form, 3: someone totally unsuspected and no previous connection to WCU or LeClair?

I don’t care if the coach we get has never heard of WCU. I just want the best coach out there that we can get. How about another Jack Leggett type Coach? Bob Waters was the AD that hired Leggett and it was a genius move. Leggett was not well known and was unproven and look what he did.

Steve White was on the Search Committee that brought Jack Leggett to WCU. He was an established coach at U of Vermont (the other Catamounts) with a winning record over 5 seasons. College baseball was just beginning to evolve into what it is today. Bill Haywood did a good job building the baseball program during his 12-13 years, however Western certainly had no great baseball history or tradition at that point. College baseball coaches at Western were also PE professors. Jack Leggett took our baseball to a totally different level. He has created one of the finest "coaching trees" in the country during his years at WCU and Clemson. Keith LeClair is on Leggett's tree and created a large branch of his own. Picking an excellent coach from that tree just makes sense to me. There are several candidates that are low-hanging fruit, in my opinion. I see a difference between someone with "ownership" in the program and someone who is just a "hired hand". That's my opinion and I'm sticking to it...

One I would like to see given an opportunity if we could not convince Todd Raleigh to return would be Nick Schnabel.

Regardless of who it may be, I hope the words “financial” and “commitment” come up in close succession at some point in the negotiations.
