Western Carolina returns to the diamond for the second game of the three-game series with the Cougars as junior RHP Jordan Smith faces off against sophomore LHP Joe Pistorese. Both pitchers totaled four wins in 2012, as Smith had a 3.48 ERA compared to Pistorese's 2.44 ERA.
Saturday's game is slated for a 2 p.m. first pitch.

Null pretty well dominates for 7 innings; gave up 2 runs on 3 hits in the 4th. But otherwise, dominates.
Getting that bridge from the starter to the closer was problematic again today. Three runs in the 8th inning(a 3-run bomb following a single and a walk) made a 7-2 game a 7-5 game.
We have a potent lineup from 1-9. All of them make good contact and capable of extra base hits. Good start. Let's keep in going Cats!

Bat Cats take win #2 from Washington State, 15-10. I think the Cougars had something like 7 errors.
Good win for the Catamounts, here's hoping they take the sweep tomorrow.

I was not in Cullowhee today, but I'm confident the weather was brutal. A couple of texts from folks on the scene indicated so. Especially with the temp. hovering just above freezing all afternoon and the wind chill taking it down into the low 20's.
It's amazing we didn't make any errors. Looking at the box score, FR Catcher Danny Bermudez caught today, Dale Jr. started at DH and two FR pitchers got to take the mound. I hate we had to use Hatch again today, but when he came in with 2 out and 2 on in the top of the 8th, the tying run was at the plate. We were only up 12-9 at that point.
Need to complete the sweep tomorrow with Morgan McK on the hill and get ready for Wake Forest to come across Balsam Gap on Tuesday. Adam Curtis will surely be the starter against WF. He carried most of the mid-week water last year.

Rodney's team is definitely capable of creating some mischief in the SoCon this year.

I noticed that Hatch got credit for 2 saves, I'm confused I thought he only had 1. According to the rules SECTION 26—save If a relief pitcher meets ALL of the following conditions, the official scorer should credit that pitcher with a save: a. He is the finishing pitcher in a game won by his team; b. He is not credited with the win; and c. He meets one of the following conditions: (1) He enters the game with a lead of not more than three runs and pitches at least one inning; (2) He enters the game with the potential tying run on base, at bat or on deck; or (3) He pitches effectively for at least three innings. Note: Not more than one save may be credited in each game.he should have gotten credit for 1 save
