I was at the game tonight and we need better - it is time for Hunter to go. We play way too much one on one, pound the ball down to Tawaski when he is overmatched and NEVER force the tempo of the game by pushing the ball. Hunter has been here too long and we are still mediocre. If we did not have that run last year, it would have been easier to let him loose. We have no bench, we have no productive big man except King, and Hunter tries to sell us on Harrelson and honestly, he looks like a high school player. It is an insult to Sumler to have Hunter say Harrelson was the best guard he has ever recruited. We foul too much, we look lazy at times, THIS IS ALL COACHING!!! We need a young energetic coach who can take these rising juniors to another level. Also, it would give the new coach the opportunity to have 6 scholarships when these juniors graduate and build his own team. RANDY ARE YOU WATCHING AND LISTENING??? We need better now!

I'm not pushing for Hunter to leave, but if you think Eaton is going to fire someone, think again.
This is Middleton's record:
Middleton - 2012-13 Record 7-23 Middleton - 2011-12 Record 14-17 Middleton - 2010-11 Record 9-22 Middleton - 2009-10 Record 7-23
This is what Eaton told the Asheville paper after the women's team was knocked out of the first round - "Western athletic director Randy Eaton indicated that Middleton would return for a fifth season."
"Nothing that I saw or experienced this year would lead me to think that Karen would not be back next year," Eaton said.
So you tell me, do you think Eaton would even consider doing something about Hunter?

Its not Hunter. I think we NEED Hunter for our coach.
What needs to change is our players being lazy. When they come from a timeout or the last 2 minutes of the game they can make plays, their play is more disciplined, and I see effort. I would rather lose a game with Hunter pulling a player out for lack of effort than win a game with the kid in it.
I see great things in Herrelson. Except I am not convinced he puts in 100% effort 100% of the time. It could be better conditioning needed for the team. Some of them look bad running up and down the court. Hunter should be able to replace a star kid or a heavy recruited player in a game for a kid that will give 100%.

I think we need to clean house of both coaches. Kids being lazy and not giving 100% is back on the coach. He has recruited these kids, coached them all year, if they can't give 100% - it is on the coach. As for Rhett, he does have some potential, but for Hunter to put him in games and pray he doesn't make a mistake and hope that he makes a play, does not seem like a coach that has faith in his team. Rhett should have redshirted this year because he was just not ready. I would rather have a new coach who can recruit his own team this summer (6 juniors), then have Hunter recruiting these players knowing he is not our long term choice. He is 63+, he has not had a very good 8 years here. Don't get caught up with the 600 wins and the run last year to the chip, he has been average at best and that has been the problem with our athletics - we accept mediocrity. Top notch athletic departments don't keep coaches around for 8 years that have a losing record overall and in the conference. Our football program seems to be heading the right direction, time to make the same thing for bball.

As for Middleton, I just hope that quote by Randy was more of a -we will wait and see type of comment, instead of a vote of confidence for her returning. I would like to see two new, young, energetic coaches that can revitalize our overall program. This is Randy's time to put his stamp on the program - and this is the year to do it.

I honestly believe that Hunter will still be here and should be still here. This year was an off year and while I was disappointed, you are going to have those. You were saying that his run here has not been that successful as well...
2005–06 Western Carolina 13–17[5] 7–7[5] 3rd (North)[6] 2006–07 Western Carolina 11–20[7] 7–11[7] 3rd (North)[8] 2007–08 Western Carolina 10–21[9] 6–14[9] 5th (North)[10] 2008–09 Western Carolina 16–15[11] 11–9[11] T–1st (North)[12] 2009–10 Western Carolina 22–12[13] 11–7[13] 2nd (North)[14] CBI 1st Round[13] 2010–11 Western Carolina 18–15[15] 12–6[15] T–1st (North)[16] 2011–12 Western Carolina 17–18[17] 8–10[17] T–3rd (North)[18] 2012–13 Western Carolina 14-19 9–9 T–3rd (North)
(12-13 not completely finished because I am lazy)
Also as for the losing record, in the SoCon he is currently 71-73 (121-137 overall). His record here isn't bad.
And finally....
You also have to remember the fact that because of football we don't have many choices of cleaning out the staff. Not until football starts bringing in more money to help pay for other programs. While we shouldn't accept mediocrity, better coaching and programs cost money. Until then we are not going to have fully funded programs and like it or not something we will have to just deal with for now.

71-73 and you say that it is not too bad. That is our problem, we let a below .500 record seem OK. We will always be an average team if we accept this type of coaching. My opinion is that it is time to go.

So the first 3 years of his contract (his building years), Hunter went 34-58. Understandable, then he went 56-42 in the next 3 years, plus first place in north twice and a second place. Then he went 31-33 this year and last year. I don't really see why we would let him go, especially since there is NO money to bring in a brand new staff...
Honestly I would rather see the Women's coach leave before Hunter. They are having a hard time with any kind of production.

One stat most important is the basketball teams seem to keep up on academics....unlike the historical nature of football. We need to keep Hunter. Soon we will be going to the big dance. Hunters 1st 4 seasons were during the Curry era over at Davidson. What a nightmare for him and his team . I honestly believe that Hunter will still be here and should be still here. I think Curry only played 3 seasons at Davidson, before turning pro.
