If Mercer wins 2 or sweeps this weekend, we end up in 2nd place- unless FU sweeps Woffy. I'd rather be there...

Especially in Greenville where its much better hitters park than Charleston. Plus the late game is better. That way when we lose once again in tourney wont have to sit around and watch more baseball pissed. But i guess if play earlier we can all be home by dinner time.

Mercer beat Greensboro 2 of 3, giving Mercer #1 seed. Cats and Greensboro both finished 15-9 and we have the tie-breaker over them, so you would think we've got #2 seed.
However, if Furman wins 2 more from Wofford, they will also finish 15-9. And there would be a log-jam in that case.
Furman has the tie-breaker over us; We have the tie-breaker over Greensboro and Greensboro has the tie-breaker over Furman. So there would need to be some secondary tie-breaker applied... and I have no idea what that might be.
If we finish #2, we most likely open the tournament with Wofford. If seeded #3, we will likely get ETSU for the opener. But Wofford and ETSU both still have games remaining so #6 and #7 as still kinda fluid.

If it ends in that 3 way tie Hooker said the next tiebreaker goes to the #5 seed (which is probably going to be Samford). He didnt say how it worked though and when sent him a text he said it was too long to type. WCU (2-1) vs Samford UNCG (1-2) vs Samford Furman (2-1) vs Samford

We want Samford to win damn it or else we get UNCG and Samford on our side
Unless Furman has one hell of a bottom 9th we are playing Wofford. With ETSU win over Citadel it locked Wofford in 7th, Citadel in 8th and VMI in 9th.
If Samford loses to VMI then Samford falls to #6 with ETSU having tie breaker.
9am-#4 Furman vs #5 ETSU 12:30pm-#1 Mercer vs Play IN 4pm-#2 WCU vs #7 Wofford 7:30pm-#3 UNCG vs #6 Samford
If Samford wins
9am-#4 Furman vs #5 Samford 12:30pm-#1 Mercer vs Play IN 4pm-#2 WCU vs #7 Wofford 7:30pm-#3 UNCG vs #6 ETSU

Here are matchups 9am-#4 Furman vs #5 ETSU 12:30pm-#1 Mercer vs Play IN 4pm-#2 WCU vs #7 Wofford 7:30pm-#3 UNCG vs #6 Samford So if we win on Wednesday - the three potential teams that we'll play the first two games - we are 5-2. Hope we can continue our domination of Wofford and take either Samford (my guess) or UNC-G. Could be a fun tournament if we play like we did in SoCon action.

Wofford's #1 pitcher is SR RHP Matthew Milburn. Milburn was a pre-season All-SoCon selection. He has had a pretty good season, but probably not the show-stopper he was expecting. But his stats are far better than any pitcher we have. 90+ innings pitched. 98 K's, 27 BB's. 4.32 ERA. W-L record is only 6-5.
Unfortunately, I am going to have to continue with my pessimistic outlook. Because we roughed Milburn up pretty good when he started against us back in early April, he will probably come out with fire in his eyes and shut us down. We get a decent pitching performance but Wofford wins in a low scoring game... maybe 3-1.
Then we will probably catch Samford in the losers bracket game. Their Murderer's Row lineup #2 thru #7 will probably attack the building behind the Green Monster and we'll get back on the bus and leave Greenville with nothing but bruised egos... probably a 12-7 loss.
Hope I'm wrong. Maybe I'll feel like going to Greenville next year....
