Had a chance to personally meet 75 & sccat66 at the St. Johns game today. Enjoyed talking with them during the game. They are outstanding Catamount Fans & it was my honor to have a chance to meet them. Don't believe anything SCCAT66 told ya. HA! LOL! Nah, he's a great guy. I'm listening to our game with Coastal right now. Like what I'm hearing so far. GO CATS!!! The sccat66 is a fine young man. A credit to the Catamount Family. The Coastal Carolina Game was a great College Game no matter who won. Look forward to tomorrow's game with NC A&T.

Thanks, the game attendance was the largest in Coastal Carolina Baseball History. They have a great College Baseball Stadium & even have sky box seating. Sure wished Chancellor Belcher & the Board of Trustees could have attended this game to see the Athletic Facilities at Coastal.

Am impressed with Matt Koehler leading off. Strong start for him after missing all last season with injury.
Bottom of the 9th almost started as a disaster when Koehler lost that high fly in the lights and barely recovered to make the catch falling down. If he had not caught that one, Coastal would have opened up the 9th with a runner on 3rd base and surely tied the score.
Matt Smith does a good job roaming CF and ran down a couple of crushed balls today.
Cameron Blaquiere looked good at 3B defensively, in addition to knocking in run that became the game-winner.
Caleb Robinson was charged with 2 errors yesterday, but the first one was on the pitcher with the throw in the dirt (my opinion). Caleb is going to be fine defensively as he gets more comfortable at 1B.
Freshman Luke Robinson looked good behind the plate today. I expect him to be behind the plate when the other team starts a RHP.
We have a very competitive team this year. Great... if we can get pitching results like today from folks OTHER THAN Bryan Sammons.

It seems there is a big drop off of talent when you get pass Sammons. However, I was impressed with The Closer yesterday. His pitches were in the 90s & it looked like he was throwing a split finger fastball. I could not tell for sure but he struck out a couple of hitters on pitches that broke down. Did not appear to be over hand curve balls. I like the move of starting J.D. Long at 2nd base & starting Cameron at 3rd base. I just wish J.D. improves his ability to hit. It appears that we have one very good Pitcher in Sammons & I hope the rest of The Pitching Staff turns into Pitchers instead of throwers.

My post on Catamount Pride board Saturday night turns out to be somewhat prophetic...
From: SCCat66 Feb-18 9:24 PM To: GrayCat2 (2 of 5) 14131.2 in reply to 14131.1
We caught Coastal at the right time. They are in a rebuilding mode right now. They lost their 5 biggest offensive producers from last year and had to replace the entire INF except 1B.
They've got all but one of their front-line pitchers back from last year. They will be a true national contender by mid-season. #9 ranking is a stretch right now.
We played a real good game today. Bryan Sammons pitched his heart out. He overcame a very tight strike zone.... that was being called pretty much both ways.
James Madison whacked Coastal today 11-3. That takes some of the exclusivity of our win away. But it was still a great win!
I fully expect St. John's to get them tomorrow. That would make Coastal 1-3 on opening weekend.
Our first winning weekend on the road in many years. Greensboro beat the Gamecocks in Columbia today. Mercer scheduled a cupcake weekend with U. Maryland Eastern Shore and picked up 3 W's. Greensboro and Mercer will be in the hunt with us for the SoCon championship, IMO.

St. John's beat Coastal today to make Coastal 1-3 for the long weekend. Coastal's CWS team was loaded with Seniors at the positions. They had to replace 3B, SS, LF, RF and 1B/DH. That sounds like a rebuilding year to me.
We will get another shot at St. Johns in Greenville, NC in a couple of weeks at the Keith LeClair Classic. It will be interesting to see how that turns out. They have a very good team and they proved it down at the Beach this weekend by going 4-0.
Wednesday up at Clemson should be interesting. They lost 2 of 3 to Wright State at home over the weekend. Bet no one in the Upstate saw that coming.
East Carolina was a pre-season Top 12 pick and lost 3 games down at Ole Miss over the weekend. Some crazy things happening in this opening weekend.
