We snatched defeat from the jaws of victory... Purus had thrown 113 pitches through 8 innings. Should have been finished. Gave up two base hits in the 9th. Plus a DP ground ball booted at SS. Combination of all that resulted in a nauseating defeat... What a great Athletic Year this has been in Cullowhee. 66, you & I have been around for a long time & we have seen the same thing repeated year after year. I never wanted Coach Mo replaced last year but I think differently now. Prior to the Conference Games starting, I thought Coach Mo had turned the corner with wins over St Johns, Indiana State, Ohio State, Michigan State and Notre Dame. However, I now realize it was all wishful thinking on my part. He did a terrible job recruiting pitchers & he seems to have little confidence in most of them. Coach Mo is not preserving the rich winning tradition that the Baseball Program has established over the many preceding years. Right now the Program has turned into a weak Program in the SoCon. It saddens me to look at all the Baseball Accomplishments displayed on the left field wall & realize how far this Program has gone downhill. A once proud Program is now on its knees.

Don't know what happened to the Furman Audio and the Live Stats. Nothing is working for me.
Reading the Furman Tweets and the Catamount Tweets, we are leading 3-1 after 5 innings. But we have already proven that a 3-1 lead is a sure loss.
We had better go into the last inning or two leading about 10-1...

Catamount Twitter feed says that Chase Walter has 10 K's through 6 innings and the lead is still 3-1.
Furman pitcher has 9 K's through 6 innings.
Perfect setup for a Furman finish... leave Walter in too long... running on fumes after pitching well... perhaps aided by some defensive lapse, Furman gets the tying and/or winning runs on base in the 8th or 9th and no one in our bullpen can stop the hemorrhage.
Sounds like an instant replay is coming up.

Chase Walter is at 101 pitches through 7 innings. How much more does he have in the tank? Who do we have in the pen that can close this thing?
We have just added a run in the bottom of the 7th and still batting. I fear that 4-1 won't do it...
Furman just brought in their SR closer. Two on and one out in the 7th. If he shuts us down with no more damage, then we are probably in trouble.

We grounded into a DP. Inning over. Hold onto your jocks...
How much more does Walter have in the tank?

Walter got Furman 3 up/3 down in the 8th and used only 7 pitches. Maybe he can do it...
He has 14 K's and only one BB. Fantastic pitching performance... so far.
Can we hold on? We need more runs in the bottom of the 8th but we are facing their best closer.

Bigbie homers on the first pitch. Now 5-1. Our odds are going up some...

Furman coming to bat in top 9th inning. Chase Walter at 108 pitches. I trust him enough to send him back out. I'm sure Mo does also.
He's our best pitcher and he has gone well over 100 pitches before... but it is cold in Cullowhee tonight.

Struck our first Furman batter on 3 pitches. Their #4 stick.
Facing the heart of the lineup here in the 9th. It is not easy.

He struck out the side. #4, 5 and 6 hitters. Awesome young man with an awesome pitching performance. I know his grandfather is proud.
17 K's and only one walk.
