If WCU does not win this game it will be because Coach Mo again leaves another pitcher in the game to long. I do not understand why he continues to not pull pitchers in trouble. I also do not know who is making the overall scholarship decisions on the Pitching Staff. Except for a few pitchers, most of the ones on this staff are not D1 Caliber Pitchers. You know something is wrong when Coach Mo puts Jones in the lineup as the DH & benches Bullock.

This team is destined to finish last or next to last in the conference.
I too, have no idea what coach mo is doing, I don't think he has an idea of what he's doing either.

Which few would you say are D1 caliber? Based on my observations, I'd say all but a few currently have D1 caliber talent. Getting that talent to perform consistently is a development/coaching issue. I think we've seen some good performances from most of the pitchers thus far. Seeing good performances from one outing to the next is what the pitching staff needs in order for the team to compete at a consistent level. There are a lot of subtle (and not so subtle) factors that determine consistent success on the mound at the D1 level. Some of these factors are beyond the control of the pitcher. Pitch selection can be huge and I have no idea who calls the pitches from game to game. Errors are another factor. causing a pitcher to get an extra out or two in an inning can totally shift momentum. Aside from having to throw additional pitches to get out of an inning, it also causes additional distractions with baserunners, etc. Another recent observation (especially the last two games) is defensive shift. Is it just me, or does the shift rarely work for this team? It seems like every time there's a shift the ball is hit to the spot that was just vacated. I've also noticed (or failed to notice) velocity for our pitchers being tracked. Maybe I've just missed it, but I can't recall seeing a radar gun behind the plate. Some might feel that velocity from game to game isn't all that important, but a drop of just 2-3 mph can make a huge difference for many pitchers. Just some thoughts.
