As now the truth comes out Eaton is not the problem, it is and has always been the administration.

Did anyone read on the other board, that Randy had funding lined up for a press-box, etc. and indoor practice field, and Dr. Belcher shout it down? I like everyone else thought Belcher was a friend of athletics, turns out is was all show. I just lost a lot of respect that I previously held for him. I this does not prove the folk in the white building are NEVER going to do anything for athletics, nothing will. I never trusted Belcher & said he never had the best interest of the Catamounts. The dead give away to this was the very low funding of the Athletic Program by the University. However, you have people on this Board that think he was the best thing since sliced bread. Belcher was a Cheerleader & a dishonest person when it came to sports at WCU. The things you listed are some of the same things people on this Board have listed as needing upgrading. We can’t hold Eaton accountable for not trying to upgrade the Athletic Facilities. Pretty easy to speak this way since he passed away I guess... Belcher was a breath of fresh air compared to Bardo and I'm glad he was given the opportunity. Maybe if he didn't get brain cancer and spend the last couple years fighting that you could have asked him why he hates athletics so much. Although I don't think any students complained, maybe it is because of the new dorms and amenities added to campus.

Amen, you are so right. Dr. Belcher, even after fighting brain cancer, worked like crazy to get us the NC Promise.
Dr. Belcher, thanks for your leadership at WCU, and Susan Belcher, I for one, am so glad you have decided to stay in Cullowhee.
Give Cats, Beat Samford

Maybe if Speir and crew wouldn't have blown it last year and made it to the playoffs, the administration would of have been willing to invest in the football team.
Maybe you should be pointing fingers at those who graduated from WCU who spend their Saturday's yelling Go Dawgs, Go Vols, Go Tigers, or cheering for Duke/UNC during basketball.
Also, why is Randy whispering these "facts" to donors at Catamount Club events? Why not announce it more widely? That doesn't seem like the way things should be done.
Dr. Belcher was a great man. He made my generation of Catamounts fall in love with Western. I bet those from the Belcher years will give back more than other alumni have. Maybe, it would be wise to not insult a man that had this kind of impact on a generation of students.

And you really think that athletics is going to hold a public press conference or put out some statement about how the admin doesn’t support athletics. Do you realize that athletics reports to the administration, not the other way around. Going public with complaints about your boss isn’t probably the smartest idea. And I love calling out people who I graduated with who say stupid "Censored Word" like “my tigers are having a great season”. Funny when I remind them they didn’t go to Clemson and then they get mad and say well I’ve been a die hard Clemson fan my whole life....

I don't get ANYONE who graduated from Western but supports other programs. My kids graduated from UGA, Bama, and Ga Southern, and the only time I go to those school's athletic events is when the Cats are playing them. Would NEVER have a "Bama Dad" decal on my car! It drove me nuts when the Cats had a basketball game in Reid gym, and guys in my dorm were upstairs watching the ACC Game of the Week.

That’s like saying that if I am working on two separate projects at work I can do one really good and then do the other one really bad and it should be ok because I did really well on the first one. And I will tell you i am not bashing the mans love of wcu. I spent a fair amount of time with him and Susan. All I’m saying is he gave the same lip service about athletics that always comes from the admin folks. All talk and no action.

Funny when I remind them they didn’t go to Clemson and then they get mad and say well I’ve been a die hard Clemson fan my whole life.... I'm well aware of the small contribution recent graduates make to the Catamount Club. It makes sense that those who have graduated in the last 6 years may not feel financially stable enough to make gifts to their alma mater. I'm able to, but I realize I'm one of the lucky ones. I was speaking to the long-term giving potential of those who went to school during his time as Chancellor. I always speak with people about having a generation of students who saw 3/4 winning seasons as a student will want to give back and come back to watch games. I understand the hierarchy at the university. But if Randy is saying that stuff to Catamount Club members, he is taking those negative comments about his boss public. Is he not? We can agree on those damn Clemson fans. I think that is a huge factor in the White building. Seeing students walk around campus with other schools football gear on doesn't scream this is what students want.

I'm sure Dr. Belcher wasn't planning on NC Promise being his last achievement. It’s not about whether Dr. Belcher plan for it to be his last accomplishment or not. The simple fact is no one in admin gives two flips about athletics. Never have and apparently never will. I have a conference call set up for tomorrow with a friend of mine on the board of trustees. I am going to make it known to him as well as the two or three other board members that I know that that is not acceptable. It’s time for change and it’s time for people to stop blaming Randy about the problems with athletic funding
