Actually recent graduates make up a very small number to the catamount club annual fund. And you really think that athletics is going to hold a public press conference or put out some statement about how the admin doesn’t support athletics. Do you realize that athletics reports to the administration, not the other way around. Going public with complaints about your boss isn’t probably the smartest idea. And I love calling out people who I graduated with who say stupid "Censored Word" like “my tigers are having a great season”. Funny when I remind them they didn’t go to Clemson and then they get mad and say well I’ve been a die hard Clemson fan my whole life.... I'm well aware of the small contribution recent graduates make to the Catamount Club. It makes sense that those who have graduated in the last 6 years may not feel financially stable enough to make gifts to their alma mater. I'm able to, but I realize I'm one of the lucky ones. I was speaking to the long-term giving potential of those who went to school during his time as Chancellor. I always speak with people about having a generation of students who saw 3/4 winning seasons as a student will want to give back and come back to watch games. I understand the hierarchy at the university. But if Randy is saying that stuff to Catamount Club members, he is taking those negative comments about his boss public. Is he not? We can agree on those damn Clemson fans. I think that is a huge factor in the White building. Seeing students walk around campus with other schools football gear on doesn't scream this is what students want. Come on dude, It's not negative stuff if he's just telling what happened. To most of us, it's a poor reflection on Belcher if true, but it's not like someone is going around spreading false rumors on Dr. Belcher just to make him look bad. I'm sure that more than just the AD knows that Belcher shot down those athletic projects, and I'm sure many of those folks have told others about it. I think most everyone knows that Belcher was good for the university overall, however, that does not mean he only gave lip service to athletics and athletic funding. He fell in line with all the past chancellors when it came to funding athletics, not one penny more than is required. But he was one hell of a cheerleader for football and basketball. Too bad he didn't mean it.

You’ll pick sides of an administration who cares nothing about athletics. What’s your issue with Randy. Has he been an a$$ to you at some point...facts don’t lie. Western Carolina admin from the chancellor down do not support athletics.

I never trusted Belcher & said he never had the best interest of the Catamounts. The dead give away to this was the very low funding of the Athletic Program by the University. However, you have people on this Board that think he was the best thing since sliced bread. Belcher was a Cheerleader & a dishonest person when it came to sports at WCU. The things you listed are some of the same things people on this Board have listed as needing upgrading. We can’t hold Eaton accountable for not trying to upgrade the Athletic Facilities. Pretty easy to speak this way since he passed away I guess... Belcher was a breath of fresh air compared to Bardo and I'm glad he was given the opportunity. Maybe if he didn't get brain cancer and spend the last couple years fighting that you could have asked him why he hates athletics so much. Although I don't think any students complained, maybe it is because of the new dorms and amenities added to campus. My comments were totally about Athletics at WCU & not about Student Housing. This is nothing new, these comments were made last year by several posters. When it came to Athletics, he was two faced.

Lots of people on here laid the blame for poor Athletic Funding at the feet of Belcher & BOT.

Speaking of funding things. I guess when you either win a championship or are in the finals each year you get an indoor practice facility. JMU just opened thier new one this week.

That was what I was getting at earlier. We had/have the athletes in football to make it to the playoffs. But for whatever reason, that hasn't happened yet. As for last year, we pissed away our chances of earning a playoff spot. That doesn't scream if we throw money at it things will get better. If we make the playoffs, donations to the Catamount Club will increase, and the administration will see the need to invest. I think it's time to see that Socon championship and playoff appearance we have been promised.

Correct me if I'm wrong because that was 13 years before I was born, but Ramsey (86ish) and the baseball stadium (78ish) were both built around that time. Not to mention EJ Whitmire was built in the 73ish. That seems like a pretty good stretch for athletics funding to me.
