Been fortunate to see this year's team several times this year and seeing the talent that they have, it's time, actually past time for a change in Leadership for Catamount Baseball. I know Bobby is the All-Time leader in wins at WCU, but it's been a 4 year downward spiral for our once proud program. We should never lose a series to VMI, we should never lose to VMI in any sport. Since my Freshman year in '76 I've always looked forward to seeing The Cats with Bats, even making midweek trips to the Whee. Truly been a disappointing 4 years.

And we will still have no pitching. Sometimes it’s just time. Young teams don’t have to be in last place. I would think that other teams are also young.

You know how you become the all time wins leader at WCU? You're not successful enough for a bigger program to lure you away. They need to bring back #35 to get things where they used to be.

I can think of worse ideas; any idea what he’s doing these days? I would guess he’s still living around Clemson somewhere.

wcu baseball was something I used to talk very proudly about. scrappy guys from the whee could play with anyone in the country. now I really try to avoid those conversations...
athletic dept has to make a commitment to winning. you cant just coast year after year and expect to get better. you have to allocate money to facilities, coaches, and fan experience improvement. it starts at the top.
unfortunately these are the facts - facilities are terrible game day experience is non-existent media presence (social) is awful school does not push student attendance
its not even worth the drive to watch them play. just an inflated high-school game experience
look at the other schools we used to compete with/beat on a regular basis... Coastal Carolina, App State, Georgia Southern.
something has to change

Based on past experience, and more so recently, the school leadership and athletic leadership will do nothing. Therefore, something will be done, the program will get worse as time passes.

My observations after following this team for just two years are nearly identical to yours, although I'll add that there seems to be a general "don't give a crap" attitude from the top. General marketing of the team is horrible and this includes social media as well. Do they even have a "Media Guide"? There are high school (top-level national) programs that have professionally made 150+ page annual media guides. I would assume most programs use their school resources, such as marketing programs. And to have a roster posted with incorrect player height/weight information this late into a season is completely unprofessional and inexcusable. Has anyone noticed that? I've stood next to a couple players that I know are listed as 2-3 inches shorter and 20-30 pounds lighter than they actually are. Affected players appear to be undersized to anyone who isn't familiar with them and broadcasters repeat the inaccurate physical data. This is something that doesn't take money to fix. Just because you're a low-budget/no-budget program, doesn't mean you have to accept it and act like one. After two years of following the team, it seems to me that there is no pitcher development. With the exception of Walters over his last 4-5 starts, I don't think I've seen any of the pitchers improve or even just appear to be throwing better. Some of that could be due to pitch selection from whomever is calling pitches. Sometimes it seems like they're over-thinking what to throw to a particular batter. The pitchers know what pitches they're confident with on a given day...don't make the call from the dugout to have them throw something different.
