The resources we are getting is because of the NC Promise law and not because of anything that Randy, the BOT or the Administration did. The folks in charge are not ponying up any more cash. In fact, they are cutting funding to athletics when other funds come available so that they can spend the money on the Arts and the Band and their other pet projects. Don't be fooled by the hype. Flcatamount, I spoke with athletic staffer and was told next year's scholarship budget is EXACTLY the same as Athletics spent two years ago. Only difference is about 33% more scholarships are available now. He told me the increases in student fees, and specifically increases in donations, have led to larger operating budgets for all teams. May be smoke, but should be easy enough to verify. I heard it from someone who is most definetly in the know and not gonna blow smoke. It just happened about a month ago. If it’s not true then I’d say there be big issue I get texts daily from guys very unhappy as we are all very tight and care a lot about the program and the info didn’t come from any other former player

Randy would love for you to believe that he did something miraculous to get more funding, but the administration is not kicking in more and Randy does not have a money tree. The only thing that has changed in the last couple of years is the NC Promise. If anyone tells you there are x amount of dollars ask them specifically where the money is coming from. Common sense tells you that our money goes further because of NC Promise. Randy and his reports did nothing to get more funds. If so, where are these magical dollars coming from? Get them to give you specifics with real numbers and post them here. Randy wants everybody to believe that he alone has done something to increase scholarship dollars and that is just not true. It is all NC Promise.

All funds raised by the Catamount Club go ONLY to fund scholarships, so those funds ARE NOT utilized to increase operating budgets for any team. Period. Someone in the athletic staff was blowing smoke to you. If operating budgets were increased, the increases come from other funding sources, which I find hard to believe.

Change in leadership with a new message may be warranted. New leadership will bring enthusiasm that seems to be lacking

From a simplistic viewpoint, you're correct. Now from a business perspective: Increase fund raising revenues three-fold, significantly more than scholarship cost increases. Now, other revenue lines formally used for scholarships are freed up to spend elsewhere. I may not know a lot, but WCU College of Business did teach me a few things. This is easy math.

I think the baseball facility NEEDS a MAJOR overhaul!! Clubhouse locker room at the field, enclose the batting cages, the outfield fence and wind screen (I would suggest putting pads up like Furman did), most definitely a new scoreboard with video capabilities, and the playing surface as well. We need desperately to increase the playing experience. Our coaches and ground crew are doing the best they can with very little to NO support for baseball. IMO our facility ranks at or near the bottom of the conference. Kids nowadays want that and if we don’t step it up we will start getting lesser talent players because the good talent will go to a place where they are taken care of WAY better and so much more better facilities!

Well, I'm a simple man, so I look at things simply. I do know that all funds raised by the Catamount Club go to scholarships. If what FLcat has stated many times is correct, as the scholarship $$$ increase to the Catamount Club, the athletic budget funds formally used for scholarship funding by the university, is diverted for other uses. I also know that scholarships increased by a total of 33 with the advent of NC Promise. I also know the Catamount Club raised a little over $1 and a half million for scholarships, BUT the total cost of scholarships at WCU is in excess of $3 million. So now tell me what funds were freed up that were formally used for scholarship that could now go into the budget? I may not know lot, but the WCU college of bussiness owes you a refund on that "easy math".
