The Cats got win #1, can they handle Furman? The one game hiccup is over, back to their losing ways. Cats lose by 20 points to Furman. But I guess they did exceed expectations with one conference win.

As the title implies, the losing continues. This team lost 18 of the last 19 DI games. How can a 3d year head coach in the SoCon be retained with a record like that?
Only at Western Carolina.

You don’t know what you’re taking about. A roster decimated by suspension and injury, only dressed eight healthy players today. Everyone would’ve understood if team quit in early February, but they kept fighting. Seniors and one of remaining juniors recruited by previous awful staff. Players don’t leave in WBB after coaching changes. Those D2 quality players recruited by previous staff stay and steal money. FINALLY, McCormick and her assistants will have a roster of majority their players next year. Start judging then.

I posted earlier on this thread and cut her some slack saying she was in her second year. I was wrong as she just completed her third year as noted with a cumulative record of 20-69, a stunning 28.99 winning %. I think criticism is totally valid now. We won't fire her - we never do - apparently because we don't have the funds to terminate contracts. My concern is with Eaton if she has the same record in two more years Eaton will give her a three, or four, year contract extension with two year options at the end if she graduates players - doesn't have to win a blanking game.
She has two full seasons of recruiting and what recruiting she had before her first year. What do you think she recruited in those periods - chopped liver. Not sure I'd accuse someone else of not knowing what they talk about when they express an opinion - but on this board you are allowed to express your opinions which I greatly appreciate.

A free society permits the expression of an opinion. But one is only entitled to that opinion if they can defend it. You and others have repeatedly questioned the WBB program - and specifically its head cosch - based on their record. Any simpleton can read the schedule page on the website! I gave you more of an inside perspective. There is a plausible reason the program is where it is today. And it’s not just a head coach thing.
Believe me, if the record is the same in two more years, it will be time for an extension that shouldn’t come.

Believe me, if the record is the same in two more years, it will be time for an extension that shouldn’t come. Sounds like we have to wait and see what happens next year and the year after. We had some close games this year but we lost them all but one. We also had some blowouts and there is a big big difference between our level of Women's basketball play and the level of play at the top of the conference. Is today's record acceptable to any WCU fan. NO. Are we willing to settle for middle of the pack which is the best we can probably expect over the next 2 years. Do I think the current staff will have us at or near the top of the conference by the end of next year or the next year. No I do not based on what I have seen so far. As you say though, Coach has 2 more years to prove that she can lead this program to more victories, but to me unless we are talking 20 win seasons and playing for a conference title, then she might as well go now because I don't think this staff can get that done. Again, just my opinion that we have to have higher standards than just breaking even in conference play. Anybody can succeed if you set the bar low enough. GO CATS!!!

Just saying there is a plausible reason for the program's turmoil, then not giving the reason is just more "WCU fans will put up with anything" garbage that is the view of the current administration of athletics. I'm sure he gave you a gold star.

I said “gave”. What little perspective I offered can easily be found above.
Your opinions of the WBB program may be valid, but to this parent they seem mostly directed at our AD, whom I’ve never met.
Tell me this, what’s better: recognizing that the resources managed by the AD given to him by the WCU admin are at a level which limits production so the AD sets the bar at a middling level...or, setting unrealistic expectations for all coaches, and hiring/firing them every 3-4 years until stumbling upon or (maybe?) who can catch lightning in a bottle and meet those expectations?
What I’m saying is, to whom should the vitriol be directed?
