Optimism? Already stated (and agree with you and others) that changes need to be made from BOT on down. Soft peddling? I've already voted with my checkbook because that's the only way I can effect change. I'm tired of supporting those who are bullheaded and not open to listening to honest criticism. But I'm still gonna cheer like hell for my team & hope they can turn this around even though the odds are slim1

You’re right. Just wanted to shed light on the players - and yes, I really love one of them very much. It’s pretty cool to see your son play where you played! By the way, I’m done with social media. Anybody has an issue with me I’m in parking spot #84. Hope you change your mind about leaving, we need your and other former players perspective.

I kept thinking this Summer that I would make plans to go see a couple of WCU football games this Fall. Never did get those plans made.
Glad I didn't. Not going to bother... Can stay home and read about how the Cats got beat...
We MIGHT sneak up on somebody and win one more game. But then again, we are very likely to have won our last game this year. Whether Adams comes back or whether he doesn't. I doubt the team has the necessary respect for him in order for him to lead the team to a win or two.
I love Coach Speir personally... but he will NEVER have a winning program at Western. No matter how many more 5-year extensions he gets. Six or seven wins a year will be the max... and that will probably only happen every 3rd year or so. 3-5 wins per year will be the norm.

You need to make it up for a few games to see your friends and support the team. The guys can't help who their coaches are, and they do give it their all.

gotta kiss ass when you suck at your job also i laughed when he said this was the first of many wins she will see. The only wins she will see will be of the other team kicking our butt. I swear the social media team made it sound like we came back in the 4th to beat a ranked team We came back in order to beat a D-2 team. This celebration shows you that he does not expect to ever win a Socon title if he is going to celebrate a win over a D-2 team.

Right now the Athletic Programs at WCU are an embarrassment to the Alumni & the Students. The University could care less about the success of the Sports Programs. You just have too many Academics at WCU that think Athletics is not a part of the University & no money should be wasted on it. I can not figure out what the Academic Geniuses at WCU knows about not supporting Athletics as compared to the rest of the Football World. Being a former Catamount Football Player, what do you think is wrong with the Football Program that has lost 10 of the last 11 games? Also, what do you think of the Coaching Staffs that have coached under Coach Speir? Keep in mind that Coach Speir has a terrible overall W/L Record & a terrible SoCon Record.

How many years does it take for this "great coach" to win? He is in year 8....35 percent winning record.....just saying there must be some standard of judgement being applied at Cullowhee then if he is considered great!

This celebration shows you that he does not expect to ever win a Socon title if he is going to celebrate a win over a D-2 team. I think the football handover to Kelly Brown was more about this being the first win while she is chancellor than the fact we won. I think the team did this for Dr. Belcher as well. Now, agreed, I do think the video would have made us look better if the first win would have been against a D1 team, but the first win happened to be against NGU vs. NC State or Mercer. It is what it is. Regarding the game, I was surprised at how many D1 transfers NGU has on the team. Folks from Ohio U, USC, College of Charleston, etc. What's up with that? Anyway, Will Jones looked pretty good after watching the replay. Was happy with how few penalties WCU had. O-line still looks to be finding their way and hopefully additional practice time with the bye week will see them gel some more. Defense nearly could have had 3 INT's, game of inches as they say. But they did save our bacon in the 4th quarter stopping NGU from getting into the red zone. Special teams riddled with losses of personnel is not helping them look good. Bye week coming at a great time for that crew.
Overall, just an odd weekend of football. Citadel picks up a quality win against GT, Furman nearly upsets VT, ETSU sinks at home to VMI, UT gets their act together and shell shocks a UTC team that I thought would have put up at least 21 points on them, Tarheels sputter against a now 3-0 Wake Forest team after a what seemed to be a quality win against Miami. Who knows what could happen in the coming weeks.
