I feel that Coach Bell and Kade know which qb should back up Carlos this year.
I was impressed with everyone of the qb's that played Saturday.
Samford's defense made UGA settle for 3 field goals inside the red zone this year, even though Samford"s offense did nothing against the UGA defense.
My prediction/ WCU 31/ SAMFORD 28

My prediction/ WCU 31/ SAMFORD 28 GO CATS I was a little disappointed in Coach Bell for not showcasing Cornett more in the PC game. I to believe that Cornett is an outstanding QB. He throws a catchable ball & can complete the passes better than the starter for the PC Game. I also think the Coaches are showing unnecessary bias toward Gonzales at the expense of Cornett. The fact that Cornett played very little Saturday was a red flag for me. I would hate to see Cornett intentionally run off by the Coaches. |

With Davis being a RS JR, I expect the coaches want to play guys some but preserve as many redshirts as they can. We need to be building the QB rotation where you have a veteran who plays a couple of seasons after getting command of the offense. The problem is that doesn’t work with the transfer portal now. I want Cornett to redshirt, but I also don’t want him to leave.
For this offense you need to be smart with the ball and you also have to be able to run (or at least keep the D honest). My guess is he needs to learn the offense better and to develop more of a run threat. But he throws a beautiful ball and he looks the part. I hope we find ways to keep him.

Gonzalez's long ball is very shaky. I also like Cornett. He was supposed to walk on at UL or UK. Can't remember The TD pass Cornett threw was a thing of beauty. I'd love to see a highlight of it. |

I guess if we have to complain about coaching at this point in the season, then I'd rather see complaints about playing time of 2nd, 3rd, and 4th string QB's then the myriad of complaints I've read over the years with prior coaching staffs when WCU REALLY had problems to complain about. Putting into perspective all this talk about which back up QB is the best really makes me appreciate how far WCU has come along in just two seasons.

Did any of you negative nellies consider he is saving Cornett?. I believe you can only play three games and still redshirt. Maybe letting Cole play Thus saving Cornett for down the road. Also he was only the fourth QB to play. Maybe he just does"nt have as good of grasp as the others. I believe I'll trust the very successful coaching staff we have.

That was what I was alluding to in saying I hope we can redshirt him - he can play in up to 4 games (so 3 more). But as I also said, you have to be careful with how the transfer portal works now. Guys will bolt pretty fast thinking the "grass is greener" somewhere else. I don't envy coaches - especially at the FCS level - who have to try and manage the playing time and try to keep guys happy. That is really hard when we have such a deep QB room right now.

A lot of good points. Maybe he plans to play Gonzalez four games and then give Cornett 4 games and Redshirt both. I am not a coach, but I know that Cornett can make all the throws and Gonzalez cannot based on what I have seen so far. Kids don’t have to stay anymore. All I heard our coaches say is that Gonzalez is a gamer. I have never heard of starting someone because they are a game. Being designated as a gamer sounds to me like you are trying to say that the kid does not have all the skills but he has intangibles which is subjective and not objective. Just my opinion based on pedigree and what I see on the field. Cornett will leave.
