If we are good enough to get ahead in these games. We are good enough to win them. Tired of hearing the bitching about funding when the coaches aren't doing their jobs. Love the validity of this. It’s not the BOT or any other administration person coming out of the huddle or calling the plays. Those that give credit to the staff that have gotten wins and “turned the program around” want to assume it’s someone else’s fault when it comes to the losses.

People need to stop drinking the kool-aid. Coach Speir better fire someone after the season. Well-coached teams form tackle, well-coached teams don't commit personal fouls, well-coached teams don't play this way on special teams. And that field goal attempt by Will (not sure how far it actually was) was the dumbest thing I've ever seen. If you're paying attention you know you can't trust him to make it. I feel certain that Coach Speir is preaching these are all learning experiences and it's because we are young. We can be a winning program. But we have to demand excellence. I'm also tired of seeing our boys post 2 or 3 personal highlights on instagram after a loss.

Realistically, by how much do we honestly think Catamount Club contributions will drop this year? 5, 10, 20%? I've been giving for a couple of years now and I realize it's not much but I feel that every dollar helps in our cause. When my wife sees me watching these games she always asks the same question, "why are we giving our hard earned money to a school that doesn't produce wins"? It's getting harder to defend my stance. Alumni want football, plain and simple. We want something to be proud of. I'm glad our baseball program has 20 something championships! I'm glad our track and field program has 36 championships. But when I tell people about my school, the first thing they ask is "how is the football team?". If immiedate changes aren't made club contributions will plummet, the BOT or whoever people say runs the show will reduce athletic spending and then we are stuck in the same place we have been for 40 years. But, I'm going to have to say that this year's horrible season is the fault of the coaching staff. The worst defense in the history of the school is John Wiley's fault. I'm lucky enough to live close to pretty much all my close friends from college in the RDU area. All of us are still on the fence about going to the UNC game.

Don’t normally tweet a lot about football, although I have strong opinions. For all frustrated fans ripping your teams today...I will give you facts:
The players are 10Xs more disappointed and frustrated than you will ever be. Their GRIND becomes brutal FYI #WordsofChizdom
Above Tweet from Gene Chizik...
The players and coaches need our support...
Finish the season like you are capable Cats!

WCU was held to 39 yards rushing for the entire second half by the Citadel!!! WOW was I ever shocked to see that stat... I quickly ran through the series on ESPN and in the second half it looks like we only had 16 total rushing attempts AND the total was further hampered by 3 sacks. So the 39 yards had a lot to do with the fact we simply weren't running the ball much. Some of those could be RPO reads where Tyrie decided to throw, but we were down and started to try and throw the ball (looks like about 25 passes with 3 of those resulting in the sacks - and a couple of others that should have been sacks but Tyrie threw it away or was called for the 1 intentional grounding). So we ran 41 second half plays, which sounds like we had enough opportunity. We simply didn't do what we needed to with those plays and of course the 5 turnovers (I count blocked punts as TOs) all in the second half doomed us. I said we would need to be in the 30s to be in contention Saturday, and will need to be in the 40s this coming weekend to stay at all competitive. Our D actually scored a TD, didn't give up the blocked punt for a TD, and were put in a bad spot on the other blocked punt. I felt like we gave up way to much yardage when tackling (seems like they went forward for 2 or 3+ yards), but outside getting burned badly on the reverse, take the punt blocks out and the scoring defense was good enough for us to contend to win. Trying to find something good to say, and had to dig a little for that. We gave up 421 rushing yards to a team that attempted 1 pass with their backup QB playing. But take out the blocks and the D gave up either 24 or 31 points. WAY below our SoCon average points allowed.

Folks, we got beat by a team that attempted one pass and completed none. Are you not embarrassed by that? We got beat by a team that had many players suspended including their starting QB. We suck. High school teams could beat us. We have one good player. ONE.
As far as the players being 10X more disappointed ... good, they should be. I'm not disappointed since this is (sadly) expected but embarrassed that a terrible team can beat us by running the ball every single play.

Skip Players that are posting highlights the next day aren't as frustrated as me. Without a doubt, this is true at Auburn or winning FCS programs. But not at Western. Maybe if they were booed off the field instead of patted on the back, it would be true.

Skip, no need to worry about the Cats finishing the season the way they are capable. If we win the final 2 games, everyone will want to know where that's been hiding. If we close losing 2, most everyone will know we can only beat teams with lower classification. Either way, I've seen enough to know some coaching staff changes are well deserved. Can't be business as usual in off season or we'll see the support wane like 'buying an ice cream cone on an installment plan on a 100 degree day'.
