There are going to be several teams hanging around the 7-4 Mark this year. It will be very interesting to find out who gets in and who is left out
The MVFC, in my mind, lost at least 1 bid today. North Dakota and Northern Iowa both lost (UNI lost to a bad Missouri State team).
To me, that helps the SoCons case to get at least 3, if not 4 bids.
I hope NCCU wins the MEAC and goes to the Celebration Bowl. If Howard wins the MEAC, NCCU will likely get a bid to the playoffs.

We need to win big again next week to make sure we make the playoffs.

Some posts on Twitter project us into the playoffs if we beat VMI and either playing GW or NCCU

Some posts on Twitter project us into the playoffs if we beat VMI and either playing GW or NCCU I believe we have either submitted a bid to host or are preparing one. I hope it comes to pass.

Not sure about GW but NCCU has a better record than us so we might have to travel to Durham

NCCU can still play in the Celebration Bowl if they win their conference - currently a 3-way tie with Howard (who just destroyed them) and Morgan State. If Morgan State beats Howard then NCCU will win the MEAC since they beat Morgan St head-to-head. If Howard wins Central will most likely be 9-2 and in my opinion may not even make the playoffs. If they do and we are 8-3, the playoff bid will go to either the school who far out-bid the other, or will go to the most deserving team. NCCU is going to tumble in the rankings after yesterday (maybe even out of the top-25) and WCU will be top-15.

Even if we don't get in the playoffs, or if we do and it's one and done, this season has been so much fun. I knew nothing about WCU until 2018, when our daughter was accepted (she started in fall 2019, graduated May 2023). She told me she's a little mad the football team* is doing well now that she has graduated lol.
*men's basketball too! Looking forward to this season.

I would expect if we get in we will have a "winnable" game in the first round. Of course any team that makes it means they had a pretty good year, but some teams (espcially some of the auto-bids) would not be playoff worthy without playing in a bad conference. The most likely opponents due to regionalization would be somebody like NC Central, Davidson, or Gardner-Webb. But because there is so much that could happen this weekend, it is possible none of those teams would be in the playoffs (and I don't know who we would play given the NCAA's desire to make 1st round games a bus trip/less than 400 miles between teams).
I agree that this season is still successful given where we were just 3 short years ago. But if we get in I hope we see how a healthier team gets to stack-up against one of the "brand name" teams in the 2nd round. Good measuring stick for what I think will be a very good team next season.
